This idea is taken straight from one of my favorite bloggers, The Nester. This domestic diva brought it to my attention that my curtains have been waiting for a flood. You know, highwater curtains. Hanging your curtain rod about 6" above and 6" away from the sides of your windows can create a fantastic illusion that your windows are much bigger than they are. We have few and very small windows in our house, so this has been a great trick for me to use. However, unless you are having draperies custom made for you (which I am not), they come from the store in either 84" length or 96" length. I've bought the 84" length and then they end up being too short, with the curtain rod hung so high:
The Nester's simple trick is to hot glue some decorator's trim to the bottom of your curtains. So, so easy. You can find a huge assortment of trims in all different colors at places like JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby. I bought one yesterday for $8 per yard, plus it was 40% off on top of that. After about 10 minutes of work:
Looks so nice and touches the floor, just as a good curtain should:
Much better!

Yeah! Is it bad or good that I knew from the title that "from the nest" meant the exact website you were referring to? Love that you are all domestic goddess Becky!
