Homemade Floor Cushion

I like the idea of having floor cushions to use in our basement when it's finished, especially for the kids to lay on while reading, playing board games, watching TV, anything. They will also be nice for movie nights with friends, as extra seating instead of just the concrete floor.  Although it will be carpeted down there, it's still concrete underneath.

Those cushions are beautiful but pricey for something relatively simple.  I thought I could make something similar on my own, and found this tutorial online.  Mine do not have the pretty piped edges, but they look great for something that will be abused by many children!
You may recall these curtains, formerly residing in our office:

In my quest to get as much natural light into our house as possible, I took them down from the office windows.  However, I have always loved the fabric, so instead of buying new fabric to make my floor cushions, I am using the four toile curtain panels instead.  This actually made the project even easier, because 3 of the 4 edges were already hemmed and I had only one raw edge that needed sewing.

The tutorial said it would take about 30 minutes.  It took me about 2 hours because my sewing skills are so minimal.  But I actually used a sewing machine and didn't hurt myself or the machine this time.  It was very straightforward and I am happy with how the first cushion turned out!
