First Day, and First Day Bling

John and Lucy did great this morning. Both were a little anxious at the house before we left for school. John said to me, "Mom? When it's dark outside, the world feels so big and I feel so small." My dearest little heart. I told him we all feel that way sometimes and it's OK. He sat on my lap and I rubbed his back, which unfortunately doesn't happen as much as I'd like anymore. I gave John a photo of us to put in his cubby. If he feels homesick during the day he looks at it. We did this last year too, although this year there's an extra little guy in the photo! For Lucy I got a necklace with an L and flowers on it. I told her she could touch the necklace and hold the L if she felt scared. She loved it. Kevin and I are both adamant that WeeBee can't come to school with Lucy so hopefully she can get used to some more big girl loveys.
Once we got to school both kids were very happy. They saw a lot of friends and started on activities right away. John and his bud Ethan got right to work making symmetrical designs out of multicolored and multi-shaped blocks. Ethan says: Mine is a blorgzorg (or some such). John says: Mine is a huge lizard man who wrestles the blorgzorg. I think: John is totally fine! Lucy started off with play doh and switched to building towers with her pal Katherine. Kevin and I left after 1/2 an hour and watched through the windows for a couple more minutes!

Yesterday I got my own back to school accessory. I was gifted some real bling bling, a Coach diaper bag. Yes they make those. Yes I have one! I feel like a celebrity ha ha. I threw away my old, stained, army green cloth diaper bag with the hole in the bottom as soon as we got home. Now I carry my A + D ointment in style.

John will potentially be switching from tae kwon do to gymnastics. I'm a big fan of "one thing" and I make the kids choose one class to be in. Well since Olympic fever has hit the Moore family, the kids are cartwheeling and somersaulting all over the house. Lucy switched from dance to gymnastics, and I think John wants to as well.

Ikey has a runny nose today. Poor guy.

Although personally, I would have been happy with a "K" necklace with flowers- the Coach diaper bag sounds pretty amazing- you are going to have to invent all sorts of reasons to haul that mom-lovey out at pick-up time!
