Last weekend I had planned a trip to the suburbs to visit with my best friends from high school, Ginger, Kristin, Sarah and Stacy. Our fifth friend is in Arizona right now but I just heard from the other gals that she is moving back in just a couple of months. Yay!
Anyway, our trip was rescheduled until yesterday because of the torrential rains in Illinois last week. I drove up to Ginger's yesterday morning and everyone got to meet Isaac for the first time (except Kristin, who was able to come to his baptism). I also got to meet Ginger's sweet little baby Henry, who is 2 months old. Of course Henry and Isaac started hanging out right away, and Henry is super good at sharing. He didn't mind at all when Isaac played with his "grabbers" (as John and Lucy call that toy where the stuff hangs down for babies to grab):

Here's the five of us, with a few kids thrown in! I enjoy seeing these ladies so much. There is something really special about having friends who have known you for such a long time. I met Kristin (in the black shirt) as a high school freshman while we were decorating our lockers one day after school. I am sure I was hanging photos of NKOTB in mine. That was in 1990!! We have known each other for 18 years now. We were roommates in college and we had special roles in each other's weddings. I remember going to Tim Jager's hockey games with these gals, now Tim and Ginger are married and have two beautiful (and seriously genius) kids. It is such a joy to see everyone grow and change over the years. Check out Ginger and I with our handsome little guys. Note also that Ginger has excellent taste in brown microsuede sectional couches. Yes it is exactly the same as ours!!
I often wish that I was able to see these friends more, they all live close to each other and get to spend a lot more time together, while I see them only two or three times per year. However, there is something special about it this way, having a place to go and get away from C-U for a little while, recharge and catch up and laugh and all that.

Awe....that's so sweet Becky. How amazing that Provi brought us all together and we still love to get in on each other's lives. I think you coming to visit makes each visit even more fun! Ikey is so handsome and has some serious footsteps to follow in with his big sibs! I had so much fun seeing everyone and all the kids. It's so amazing to see where we all have ended up. And who knows, in a few years, a few more of the group might have babies on their hips! We'll be outnumbered in the baby-mommy ratio!
The picture of us and our boys is hilarious--the way they are just cross eyed staring at the floor--I love it!! They are so cute!
It was a great visit and I appreciate you making the drive. Hopefully we can all come down and see you next time. I'd love to see John and Lucy again. I feel so lucky to have friends from high school--I think it is a rare thing and we are blessed.
